Oyo/Osun Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has announced a revenue figure of N77,880,153,197.62k (Seventy-Seven Billion, Eight Hundred and Eighty Million, One Hundred and Fifty-Three Thousand, One Hundred and Ninety-Seven Naira, Sixty-Two Kobo) generated from January to October 2025, representing a 17.5% increase when compared to ₦64,269,394,207.65k (Sixty-Four Billion, Two Hundred and Sixty—Nine Million, Three Hundred and Ninety-Four Thousand, two Hundred and Seven Naira, Sixty-Five Kobo) recorded for the same period under review in 2024.

Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Gambo Iyere Aliyu made the announcement at his maiden press briefing held at the Command’s operational Headquarters in Ibadan.

Comptroller Aliyu, who described his maiden press briefing as the beginning of a renewed drive towards improved performance, transparency, and partnership, noted that the figure generated reflected a high level of commitment by the Command’s Officers despite prevailing economic challenges.

It also demonstrated the Command’s unwavering dedication to achieving and surpassing the monthly set target by the Service.

Speaking on the anti-smuggling efforts from 4th June 2025 to 31st October 2025, the Area Controller listed the prohibited items intercepted to include: 3,671 Foreign Parboiled Rice; 403 kegs of Premium Motor Spirit, 25 litres each (10,075 Litres); Pieces of Used Compressor; 1,054 Pieces of Used Tyres; 166 Bales of Used Clothes, (19 Sacks); 9 Sacks of Used Shoes; 25 sacks of Used Bags; 79 Wraps of Cannabis Sativa; various seizures of Unregistered Pharmaceuticals; and Used Vehicles -1 Used Toyota Hilux, 1 Used Mercedies Benz GLE2, Used Toyota Camry.

The Total Duty Paid Value (DPV) of the seizures, according to him, is ₦818,789,310.25 (Eight hundred Eighteen Million, Seven Hundred and Eighty-Nine Thousand, Three Hundred and Ten Naira, Twenty-Five Kobo.
He informed that all suspects arrested in connection with some of the seizures were charged to the Federal High Court and have been prosecuted in line with the provisions of the Nigeria Customs Service Act 2023.
While reaffirming the Command’s resolve to deepen engagement with critical Stakeholers including traditional institutions, sister security agencies, business communities, and the media; the Area Controller emphasised that Oyo/Osun Area Command will continue to operate within the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, and excellence in service delivery.
“We will not relent in our effort to safeguard the national economy, generate maximum revenue, and protect the society against the menace of smuggling. The Command remains committed to maintaining open channels of communication to ensure seamless trade facilitation and compliance with Customs regulations,” he stated.
Comptroller Aliyu further extended appreciation to the State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde for his unwavering support in ensuring the Command achieve its core mandate; applauded the continuous guidance of the Comptroller-General of Customs, Dr. Bashir Adewale Adeniyi MFR and his Management Team, and that the Officers, that have continued to uphold the ethics and core values of the Service.
