The Oyo/Osun Area Command of Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) under the leadership of Comptroller Joseph Adelaja, has demonstrated effective inter-agency collaboration by handing over seized cannabis Sativa and Counterfeit pharmaceutical products to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) and the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), respectively.
This was contained in a statement signed on Thursday, 3, July 2025, by the Command’s Spokesperson, Assistant Superintendent of Customs 11, Abdul Malik Abiodun Akintola for the Customs Area Controller.
According to the statement, the items, with a total Duty Paid Value (DPV) of ₦35,488,500.00, were intercepted by the Command’s operatives in June 2025 and subsequently handed over to the appropriate agencies for further investigation and necessary action.
This development is in line with the policy thrust of the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, MFR, on synergy and effective collaboration with sister agencies in the fight against smuggling and all forms of transnational crime.
The Command further reaffirmed its commitment to upholding national security and public health through robust enforcement and inter-agency cooperation.
