The Comptroller General of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Bashir Adewale Adeniyi MFR, on Tuesday, 10 June 2025, made a strategic visit to Ibadan Train Station Terminal and a prospective private bonded warehouse. The bonded facility, once operational is expected to significantly enhance cargo clearance, ease trade logistics in the region and increase efficiency.
In a remark, the CGC noted that the warehouse will complement ongoing efforts to decongest seaports and expedite the movement of goods to their final destinations. “This aligns with our broader goal of simplifying customs procedures and promoting legitimate trade,” he said.
During his visit, the Comptroller-General of Customs also stopped by the Oyo/Osun Area Command in Ibadan, reaffirming the Service’s commitment to enhancing trade facilitation and operational efficiency.
Welcoming the CG, the Custom Area Controller of Oyo/Osun command, Comptroller Joseph Adelaja announced a revenue collection of ₦28.05 billion between February and May 2025, surpassing last year’s figure of ₦23.84 billion during the same period.
He noted that massive seizure of prohibited goods worth over ₦917 million in Duty Paid Value were intercepted.
Adelaja also outlined major operational challenges encountered amidst these achievements to include: manpower shortages, limited operational vehicles, and electricity challenges at the barracks.
He appealed for the deployment of 80 junior officers and provision of 16 additional vehicles to boost field efficiency.
Responding, the CG assured that the service headquarters would consider their requests promptly.
He stressed the need for continuous professional development, urging officers to remain dedicated and knowledgeable in delivering on the agency’s mandates.
