Kwara State House of Assembly, KSHA, on Tuesday, 20 May 2025 passed the Freedom of Information Bill and State Water Users’ Association Bill 2025 into law.

This followed the reports of the house committees on the two Bills.

Presenting their reports, the Chairperson, House Committee on Youths, Sports and Information Mrs.Motunrayo Shitu and the Chairman, House Committee on Water Resources, Mr. Yinusa Oniboki noted that the provisions of the bills was majorly supported by the stakeholders who attended the public hearing.

After deliberations and the third reading the bills were passed, and the Speaker, Engr. Yakubu Danladi Salihu directed the Clerk, Alhaji Ahmed Olayiwola to prepare a clean copy for the Governor’s assent.

Meanwhile, the Freedom of Information, FOI Bill generated arguments by the civil society organizations in the state and the People’s Democratic Party over the insertion of section 31 of the Bill.
