Kwara State Government on Thursday, 15 May, 2025, directed the immediate closure of Government High School and Government Day Secondary School, Adeta, in Ilorin West Local Government Area due to students’ unrest.

The State Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Dr. Lawal Olohungbebe gave the directive at the Ministry’s Headquarters in Ilorin.

Dr Olohungbebe stated that only students writing the ongoing Senior Secondary School Certificate Examinations, SSSCE, and teachers would be allowed into the school premises for their examination.

He enjoined students who are involved in the SSCE examination to endeavor to wear their identification cards when coming to the school and urged parents as well as guardians of non-examining students to ensure their children and wards stay at home.

The Commissioner added that any student who violates the directive shall be apprehended by security officers.
