As Nigerians join the global community to celebrate Easter season, the President -General of Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria, MWUN, Comrade Francis Bunu Abi has congratulated Christians, calling for reflection on Jesus’ Teachings.
In a statement signed by the Union’s Spokesperson, Comrade John Kennedy Ikemefuna on Saturday, the season signifies the death of Jesus Christ, who on the third day after his crucifixion on the Cross of Calvary resurrected from his grave.
The statement reads, “The celebration of Jesus Christ on Easter Sunday is a significant testimony and genuine reflection of the Messiah, who came to earth for the redemption of mankind from the shackles of sin.
“Christ during his life time on earth went all about the places preaching the gospel of repentance, love, forgiveness, charity, peace, and was always seen doing good, healing the sick and loosing the oppressed.
“Comrade Bunu on this memorial occasion admonishes Christians in the country to emulate the exemplary life style of Jesus by coexisting with one another in peace irrespective of tribe, descent, religion, status, or political divide, as all mankind are made in the image of the Almighty God as embedded in the Holy Bible, which is the watchword of our daily lives.
“The MWUN PG who is a devoted Christian did not mince word while encouraging Christian faithful across the globe to continually be the true Ambassadors of Christ in whatever they do especially by demonstrating the Agape kind of love towards all races of humanity as this period of Easter is the time to reassess our daily lives and reflect on the teachings and characteristics of our Lord Jesus Christ, so that we don’t fall short of the standards of the Kingdom of God, which is our ultimate goal as Christians.
“Comrade Bunu used the Easter celebration to thank Christians for their peace loving nature and urged them to continue to be more resilient, and not relent in doing good, as such people will inherit the Kingdom of God.
“The Delta State born Maritime Expert, Business Administrator and Seasoned Sailor extends his warmest greetings to all Nigerians during this Easter; thanked everyone and charged them to be peaceful always, and to exchange love, you eschew strife, bitterness, and hatred towards one another as such will keep the society devoid of rancor and that will guarantee us peace as we coexist amongst ourselves healthily in love just as Christ stood for humanity the symbol of peace and redemption”.
