As the Maritime Journalists’ Association of Nigeria (MAJAN) prepares to host seminar on Thursday, 10 April 2025, at Rockview Hotel, Park Lane, Apapa, Lagos, industry stakeholders have concluded plans to examine the role of National Single Window, NSW, in transforming trade facilitation.

The seminar, scheduled to begin at 11:00 AM, aims to explore the concept of NSW, its objectives, and potentials in streamlining trade processes and enhancing economic efficiency in Nigeria.

According to a statement issued by the association’s public relations officer, Frank Odinukaeze on Sunday, Key topics to be discussed include implementation of the NSW project, its alignment with national and regional levels, particularly at the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), and the roles and responsibilities of various stakeholders.

He also disclosed that the event will feature prominent figures in the industry including Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Hon. Gboyega Oyetola, as the Special Guest of Honour, Mr. Tola Fakolade, Director of the National Single Window Project, as the Keynote Speaker, Guests of Honour include: Dr. Abubakar Dantsoho Managing Director, Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Barr. Pius O. Akutah, Executive Secretary/CEO, Nigeria Shippers Council; Dr. Dayo Mobereola Director General, Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA); Assistant Comptroller-General, Nigeria Customs Service Zone A, Charles Orbih; Kayode Egbetokun, Inspector-General of Police among others.

To him, the seminar is expected to facilitate a productive and insightful discussion among stakeholders, focusing on the design, deployment, and management of the National Single Window platform, case studies of successful NSW implementations in other countries, and the impact of the International Cargo Tracking Note (ICTN) on the Nigerian port industry.

“It will also delve into the impact of the International Cargo Tracking Note, ICTN, and its implications for the Nigerian port industry.

“By bringing together stakeholders from government, the private sector, and service providers, the seminar aims to chart a path toward economic growth through trade facilitation reforms and enhance Nigeria’s trade efficiency and regional integration.

“MAJAN invites all stakeholders in the maritime sector and the general public to participate in this landmark event as we collectively explore strategies for enhancing Nigeria’s trade efficiency and fostering regional integration”.
