The Area Controller, Tincan Island Port Command of the Nigeria Customs Service, NCS, Comptroller Frank Onyeka, has strengthened existing ties with sister security agencies, emphasizing the importance of prioritizing national security to achieve a safe and prosperous nation.
Comptroller Onyeka made this emphasis while receiving Commanding Officer of the Nigerian Navy Forward Operating Base Badagry, Navy Captain Omotayo Busuyi Oyeleye, in his office on Tuesday.
He highlighted the need for a strong synergy among all security agencies, noting that Tincan Island Port Command’s core functions extend beyond revenue generation, trade facilitation, and suppression of smuggling activities.
To him, building a strong synergy with all security agencies will deter criminal elements and promote national development.
Comptroller Onyeka also lauded the Nigerian Navy’s efforts in providing maritime security against sea robberies.
In response, Captain Oyeleye praised the Nigeria Customs Service for its collaborative approach, highlighting the success of joint operations.
In a related development, the Area Controller paid a familiarization visit to the Controllers of the Nigeria Agricultural Quarantine Services at PTML and Tincan Island Commands.
According to a statement by Tincan Island Port Command’s Public Relations Officer, OE Ivara, the Area Controller reassured the Quarantine agency of continued collaboration and expressed his commitment to integrating the Quarantine Service into the Command’s activities for better synergy.
