In a bid to strengthen collaboration and enhance maritime security, Customs Area Controller, Kirikiri Lighter Terminal, KLT, Command, Comptroller Joy Edeldouk met with Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) Maritime, Garba Yusuf.
The meeting, which took place on March 6, 2025, at the Kam Salem Building in Lagos, emphasized the importance of inter-agency cooperation in combating maritime threats.
According to a statement released by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Chief Superintendent of Customs Victor Ogabor, same day, the meeting focused on enhancing security, safety, and operational efficiency in the maritime sector.
Both Comptroller Edeldouk and AIG Yusuf underscored the need for greater collaboration and intelligence sharing to combat smuggling and other illicit activities threatening national economic and security interests.
The meeting marks a significant step towards fostering a stronger partnership between the Nigeria Customs Service, NCS, KLT Command and the Maritime Police.
By working together, both agencies can better address the complex security challenges facing the maritime sector, ultimately promoting economic growth and development.
