Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has handed over 142 wraps of Canadian Loud worth N290 million and a suspect to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for further investigation.
Customs Area Controller of the Command, Comptroller Effiong Harrison, announced at a press briefing in Lagos that the seizure was made earlier Today, February 18, 2025, and the suspect, a student from Canada, was arrested in connection with the seizure.

Comptroller Harrison said the Suspect was arrested on arrival from Canada via Ethiopian Airlines.
He said, “In the spirit of collaboration, which aligns with the policy thrust of the Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi MFR, we work together with partner agencies to ensure that things that are inimical to our health, security and economy do not pass through the airport.
“The worth of these seizures is over N290 million and we don’t want this type of illicit items to enter the country as it affects our younger ones, impact negatively on our economy, and also be a security threat to the society. We will not relent our efforts in chasing the drug traffickers”.

Comptroller Effiong added that the Service will continue to work tirelessly to prevent the entry of illicit items into the country, and that the agency will not relent in its efforts to chase down drug traffickers.
In a response, the NDLEA, represented by Commander of Narcotics and Head of Operations at MMIA, Muhammed Tukur Ahmad, commended NCS for the successful seizures and assured that the agency will investigate and unravel everyone connected to the seizure.
“It is a typical display of synergy between agencies here. I really commend the Controller for the marvelous seizures. The beautiful thing to this seizure is that suspect is attached to the seizures. We will investigate and unravel every individual responsible for this, that I assured,” he said.
