The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Ogun 1 Area Command has started the year 2025 on a strong note, seizing goods worth N77.5 million in the first 27 days.
Customs Area Controller of the Command, Comptroller MS Shuaibu disclosed this during a press conference held at the Idiroko Customs House on January 28, 2025.
Comptroller Shuaibu reported that between January 1 and 27, 2025, the Command recorded significant seizures, including 2,002 bags of smuggled rice, 6,180 pieces of cutlasses, and 6,375 liters of PMS, with a total DPV of N77,476,185.
While unveiling the Command’s impressive 2024 scorecard, he said a sum of N275.8 million was generated in revenue through diligent efforts and cooperation from compliant traders in 2024.
“The revenue was actualized through the collection from baggage assessment, proceeds from auction sales of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) and vehicles,” he said.
He also revealed that the Command made significant seizures that includes – 16,712 bags of foreign parboiled rice (50kg each); 139,881 liters of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS); 940 rounds of live ammunition; 71 sacks and 3,253 parcels of cannabis sativa; 586 bales of used clothing; 86 units of vehicles used for conveyance; 18 units of foreign used vehicles; 2,150 pieces of used pneumatic tyres; 760 pieces of donkey skin; 3,766 cartons of frozen poultry products; 85 bags of imported flour, with a Duty Paid Value (DPV) of N1,267,504,035.
While commending Officers and Men of the Command for their resilience, professionalism, and dedication to duty, the Area Controller appreciated the continuous support of the Comptroller General of Customs, CGC Adewale Adeniyi MFR and his management team, likewise all the Stakeholders for their continued support.
Similarly, as part of inter-agency collaboration, the Command handed over the fresh intercepted parcels of cannabis sativa to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Idiroko Special Command.
