Kirikiri Lighter Terminal Command (KLT) of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has achieved two significant milestones in 2024.
The Command recorded a remarkable 101% increase in revenue, generating a total of ₦107,182,674,904 and also got 37 newly promoted Officers
Comptroller Joy Edeldouk, Customs Area Controller of the Command disclosed this at the decoration ceremony of it’s newly promoted Officers, saying the revenue figure generated is 101% higher than the ₦53,429,613,592 recorded in 2023.
She attributed the significant revenue growth to the Command’s strategic efforts to strengthen revenue collection, improve compliance, and enhance operational efficiency.
According to her, other key factors that contributed to the success include the implementation of streamlined processes, leveraging technology, and ensuring excellent stakeholder engagement.
Comptroller Edeldouk also attributed the success to the Command’s intelligence-driven enforcement, which utilizes data analytics and intelligence gathering to identify and combat smuggling, fraud, and other Customs offenses.
She said the Command’s focus on capacity building has provided regular training and development programs for officers to enhance their skills, knowledge, and professionalism.
While decorating the 37 newly promoted Officers, including 4 Comptrollers, 3 Deputy Comptrollers, 5 Assistant Comptrollers, and 7 Chief Superintendents of Customs, the Area Controller expressed pride in the dedication and hard work of the promoted officers, stating their commitment to excellence and passion for their work have not gone unnoticed.
“I want to say how proud I am of each and everyone of you. Your commitment to excellence, your passion for your work, and your willingness to go above and beyond have not gone unnoticed.
“This promotion is not just a recognition of your achievements, but also a testament to your potential for future growth and success. I have no doubt that you will continue to excel in your new ranks, inspiring and motivating those around you.
“As you take on these new challenges, remember that leadership is not just about achieving success, but also about lifting others up and making a positive impact on those around you,” She said.
Comptroller Edeldouk equally emphasized the importance of Stakeholders engagement, fostering collaborative relationships with importers, sister agencies, and other stakeholders to promote compliance and facilitate trade.
“The Command intends to build on this success by implementing robust risk management systems and data analytics to enhance revenue collection in 2025.
“The Command’s achievements are a testament to the hard work and dedication of its officers and men,” the Controller added.
She concluded by expressing gratitude to the Comptroller-General of Customs and the Management Team of the Nigeria Customs Service for their immense support; assured that the officers and men of KLTC will continue to work tirelessly to optimize revenue collection while facilitating legitimate trade.
