The Zonal Coordinator, Zone A of the Nigeria Customs Service, ACG Charles Orbih has emphasized the need for newly promoted Officers of Apapa Area Command to uphold highest Standard of Service Delivery and Ethical Conduct.

Speaking at the decoration ceremony held at the Command’s Auditorium on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, ACG Orbih stressed that their new ranks are a testament to their dedication to unwavering integrity and remarkable performance.

He urged them to maintain an unprecedented standard in revenue collection, trade facilitation, anti-smuggling operations, and national security.

ACG Orbih noted that for the Area Command to have generated N2.3 trillion in revenue last year, the newly promoted officers must be prepared to surpass this target.

He reminded the Officers that their new ranks come with greater responsibilities and expectations to exemplify leadership qualities.

The Zonal Coordinator also advised Officers who were not promoted to take it in good faith and prepare harder for the next examination exercise.

“As the Premier Port of NCS in Zone A, you must maintain an unprecedented standard in revenue collection, trade facilitation, anti-smuggling operations, and national securities,” he added.

He further stated that the newly promoted officers have demonstrated remarkable proficiency in embracing model customs procedures and ensuring high standards are upheld.

“The dedication of ideal newly promoted officers implementing our mandate reflects your readiness for higher obligations, commitment to continuous learning, and adaptation to significantly contribute to achieving our vision of a modernized and efficient NCS,” he said.

ACG Orbih concluded by reminding the newly promoted officers that their promotion carries a weight of greater responsibilities in alignment with the core values of integrity and professionalism.

“Our newly promoted officers must continue to uphold the highest standard of service delivery and ethical conduct,” he emphasized.

Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Babatunde Olomu, on his part, congratulated the newly promoted Officers, acknowledging their hard work, resilience, and dedication to the NCS mission.

He urged them to embrace their new responsibilities, foster teamwork, and lead by example.

Comptroller Olomu appreciated the officers for their unwavering commitment, stating that the Command successfully recorded N2.3 trillion in revenue generation for the Federal Government in 2024 with their collaborative efforts.

This achievement, he noted, was due to the Command’s commitment to upholding the values of integrity, service, and excellence.

The newly promoted officers include 14 Deputy Comptrollers who were promoted to the rank of Comptroller of Customs, 17 Assistant Comptrollers promoted to Deputy Comptrollers, and 50 Chief Superintendents of Customs promoted to the rank of Assistant Comptroller.
