The Oyo/Osun Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) on Monday, January 27, 2025, has joined the Global Customs Community in celebrating International Customs Day, reaffirming commitment to efficiency and security.

Speaking during the ceremony, Customs Area Controller of the Command, Dr. Ben Oramalugo, emphasized the command’s commitment to improving operational efficiency, enhancing security measures, and contributing to the economic prosperity of the region.

Comptroller Ben noted that the command has successfully improved its service delivery to the public through continuous training, strategic partnerships, and the adoption of technology.

Dr. Oramalugo reiterated the importance of customs in facilitating legitimate trade, safeguarding national security, and generating revenue for the government.

He stated that the command is committed to ensuring that all goods imported or exported through the command’s area of responsibility are properly cleared and accounted for.

The event, held at the Command’s Operational Headquarters in Ibadan, was attended by Officers and Men of the command, and it featured a presentation by an officer of the command, who highlighted the role of customs in combating smuggling and enhancing revenue generation through transparent and efficient processes.

There was also an interactive session, where participants discussed ways to further enhance the command’s service delivery.

Dr. Oramalugo commended the officers and men of the command for their dedication and hard work, which has led to significant improvements in the command’s performance. He urged them to continue to strive for excellence in their duties.

The International Customs Day celebration provided an opportunity for the command to reflect on its achievements and challenges, and to reaffirm its commitment to advancing the mission of the Nigeria Customs Service.

As part of the celebration, the Officers and Men of the Command reaffirmed their commitment to contributing to a prosperous and secure environment for all stakeholders involved in legitimate trade.
