Apapa Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has joined the Global Community to celebrate International Customs Day 2025, with Comptroller BO OLOMU emphasizing the Command’s dedication to facilitating legitimate trade, streamlining clearing processes to minimize delays as well as improve revenue collection.
Comptroller OLOMU, while delivering a speech to commemorate the International Customs Day on Monday 27, January 2025, stressed the relevant of the theme “Customs delivering on its Commitment to Efficiency, Security, and Prosperity,” to Nigeria’s economic growth and sustenance.
Comptroller Olomu outlined the World Customs Organization’s (WCO) objectives for the celebration, focusing on streamlining processes- to reduce clearance times and minimizing delays-to ensure seamless clearance processes.
He noted that Apapa Command has maintained trade facilitation momentum, implementing processes to address trade issues and fast dispute resolution.
The Area Controller also highlighted the Command’s commitment to non-intrusive inspection, leveraging technology and risk management strategies.
He emphasized the importance of data generation, collation, and application for evaluation and planning.
Comptroller Olomu reported that the Command achieved a total collection of N2.357 trillion in the previous year, doubling the N1.1 trillion collected in 2023 and assured that it’s revenue target for the year 2025 shall be attained and even surpassed, as always demonstrated.
The Area Controller further reiterated the need for compliance, stating that it yields win-win results, saving time, preventing revenue loss, and building integrity ratings.
Comptroller Olomu assured the Comptroller General of Customs, CGC Bashir Adewale Adeniyi MFR that the Command’s revenue target for 2025 would be attained and surpassed. He appreciated compliant Stakeholders and urged them to continue their good work towards building a more prosperous Nigeria.
