President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Adewale Adeniyi, on his 59th birthday.
In a statement issued by the President’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Bayo Onanuga on Saturday, President Tinubu commended Adeniyi’s transformative leadership since his appointment as the 14th Comptroller-General of Customs in June 2023.
The President praised Adeniyi’s efforts in driving digitalization and automation in Customs operations, which has resulted in unprecedented revenue surpluses, improved trade facilitation, and innovative anti-smuggling strategies.
Under Adeniyi’s leadership, the Customs Service has also recorded remarkable seizures of arms and ammunition, while also reviving the Comptroller-General of Customs’ Annual Conference.
President Tinubu acknowledged Adeniyi’s over 30 years of remarkable service and his adaptability, which has brought immense value to the agency.
The President noted that Adeniyi’s commitment to national development is evident in his tireless efforts to reform and reposition the Customs Service for better performance.
“These efforts include empowering the youth with alternative livelihood skills, engaging with traditional institutions, and fostering effective communication and mutual respect within and beyond the service.
“This progress, coupled with a renewed focus on professionalism and boosting officers’ morale, has resulted in enhanced performance within the agency,” he added.
President Tinubu prayed for divine wisdom, good health, and continued strength for Adeniyi as he contributes to national development.
