The Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) has joined forces with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) to tackle the menace of maritime drug trafficking.

According to a press release by Osagie Edward, Head of Public Relations at NIMASA, the partnership aims to strengthen Nigeria’s maritime security and prevent the illicit shipment of drugs.

The collaboration was formalized during a courtesy visit by the NDLEA Chairman, Brig. Gen. Mohammed Buba Marwa (rtd), to the NIMASA headquarters in Lagos.

During the visit, Brig. Gen. Marwa emphasized the importance of inter-agency cooperation in addressing the rising threat of maritime drug trafficking.

NIMASA’s Director General, Dr. Dayo Mobereola, welcomed the partnership and pledged the agency’s support. He stated that NIMASA would work closely with the NDLEA to secure Nigeria’s maritime space against illicit drug shipments.

The partnership is expected to yield significant benefits, including enhanced maritime security and a reduction in drug-related crimes.

By working together, NIMASA and NDLEA aim to create a safer, more secure maritime environment for Nigeria and the global community and as the partnership takes shape, Stakeholders will be monitoring its progress closely.
