The Nigeria Customs Service, Enugu/Anambra/Ebonyi Command has recorded a remarkable 50% increase in revenue collection, raking in a whopping Fifty billion, (Eight hundred and forty-seven million, Six hundred and twenty-five thousand, five hundred and ninety-seven thousand and eight kobo only, (50,847,625,597.08) in 2024.
This impressive feat is a testament to the command’s unwavering commitment to excellence and its unrelenting efforts to block revenue leakages. The command’s revenue collection for 2024 surpassed the previous year’s collection of ₦27.954 billion in 2023.
Comptroller Comfort Ukpanah, Customs Area Controller of the Command, attributed the success to the Command’s strategic approach to revenue collection, which includes strengthening relationships with stakeholders, leveraging technology, and enhancing operational efficiency.
According to Ukpanah, the Command developed a template to monitor compliance among stakeholders and ensured round-the-clock surveillance on excise factories and parcel post functions to prevent revenue leakages.
The command’s impressive revenue performance is expected to contribute significantly to the federal government’s revenue projections for 2024, and set a new benchmark for customs commands across the country.
Ukpanah expressed appreciation to the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, and his management team for their support and guidance, which enabled the command to achieve its revenue target.
The Customs Area Controller also commended Officers and Men of the Command for their dedication and hard work, which led to the achievement of the Command’s revenue target.
Ukpanah reiterated the command’s commitment to exceeding its revenue target in 2025, in line with the Federal Government’s revenue projections.
