The Customs Area Controller of the Nigeria Customs Service, Western Marine Command, Comptroller Paul Bamisaiye on Thursday, 24 October 2024, strengthened community ties with a visit to His Royal Majesty, Oba Michael Adetoye, the Jegun of Idepe-Okitipupa, as well as Oba Afolabi Oladimeji, the Olu of Igbokoda.

The visit aimed to strengthen community ties and foster collaboration between the service and the host community.

During the visit, Comptroller Bamisaiye acknowledged the strong relationship between customs officers and the host community, noting that there have been no hindrances to their statutory functions.

His words: “We are only following the CGC’s policy thrust of collaboration, innovation, and consolidation. Previously, our officers and this community have had a good relationship, so we want this synergy to continue.”

The traditional rulers expressed their appreciation for the visit and the presence of the service in the community. “I want their office to be more restructured so that it demonstrates their active presence here, as present in other marine areas,” Oba Adetoye suggested.

The Area Controller also inspected the housing project for officers at the Customs Marine outpost in Igbokoda.

He said, “As you can see, we found the contractor on site doing his job which means work has begun, and we expect everything to be completed very soon.”

He further expressed his gratitude to the Comptroller General of Customs for prioritising officers’ welfare and announced the approval of four seagoing vessels to enhance maritime security.
