As part of the commitment to align with the policy thrust of the Comptroller General of Customs, the Customs Area Controller, Lagos Industrial Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Comptroller Odeworitse Rebecca Chokor has pledged mutual collaboration with Amuwo Odofin Federal Constituency to enhance community development of the constituency.
Comptroller Chokor made the pledge on Thursday while receiving Honourable George Adegeye Olawande, one of the constituency members, who was on a collaboration visit to the Command’s Headquarters in Festac Town, Lagos.
In a statement signed by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Juliana Tomo, Hon. George sought to strengthen the security architecture of the constituency, thus visited NCS Command in Festac town to discuss issues of infrastructural collaboration towards installing solar energy system all over the constituency.
According to the statement, the Honourable emphasized that everyone’s challenges remain his focus as he stands for everybody in the constituency.
He thus sought support of the CAC towards the successful installation of the solar energy system project of the constituency.
While appreciating Hon. George for his visit, the Area Controller highlighted the core mandates of the Command to include supervising, collecting, and accounting for Excise Duty from factories producing Excisable goods.
“We work diligently to facilitate trade, generate revenue, and identify new factories for Excise control. Therefore, all Corporate Social Responsibilities (CSR) regarding community development are forwarded to the headquarters for approval of the CGC,” she said.
Speaking further, The CAC stressed that the Lagos Industrial Area Command’s doors are opened and fully prepared to collaborate with all stakeholders to strengthen security, foster economic growth and build a brighter future for the constituency in accordance with the CGC’s policy thrust.
“Close collaboration between stakeholders and security agencies is essential for sustainable development and in line with the World Customs Organization (WCO) theme for 2024 International Customs Day (ICD) celebration “Customs Engaging Traditional and New Partners with Purpose”, our Command share in the constituency’s belief and dedication to the community while looking forward to a close collaboration and continued partnership in ensuring the effective and efficient operations of the Nigeria Customs Service in Festac Town,” Chokor said.
