Just as the Nigeria Customs Command and Staff College, NCCSC, graduated another batch of 50 Officers, this time of junior course 19, the Comptroller General of Customs (CGC), Adewale Adeniyi has tasked the graduates on Professionalism conduct and to embrace the significance of continuous learning.
CGC Adewale made this call at the graduation ceremony of 50 Officers for junior Course 19 held on Tuesday, 27 August 2024, at NCCSC, Gwagwalada, Abuja.
Represented by the Deputy Comptroller-General of Customs for Finance, Administration and Technical Services, DCG Bello Jibo, he urged the graduands to continue up skilling their knowledge on Customs operations as they were rigorously trained, saying, “The knowledge you have gained in the college is your foundation to showing your commitment to continuous learning and development that will define your success so, go forth with confidence; serve with honour and lead with integrity.”
“It’s my great pleasure that I stand before you today on this momentous occasion to celebrate the graduation of the students of junior course 19, which marks the culmination of three months of hard work, dedication and unwavering commitment to the pursuit of excellence in Customs operations and administration,” he added.
CGC Adeniyi who described the College as a remarkable citadel of learning and training within the Service, noted that the College is the foundation where future leaders are laid, as officers are well equipped with the right skills and knowledge.
According to him, “The institution has produced some of the finest officers who have gone on to lead our service with distinction, and I have no doubt that the graduates here today, will follow suit.
“Your journey has not been easy, but your resilience and determination have brought you to this point. The knowledge and skills you have acquired here are not just tools for your career; they are keys to unlocking the future of the Nigeria Customs Service.”
Earlier in his remarks, the Commandant of the College, ACG Kingsley Egwuh, praised and showered the 50 graduates with the Pass Junior Staff Course (PJSC) title.
ACG Kingsley expressed optimism as he conferred them with the title and also implore the graduates to practice what they’ve learned as they go back to their respective Commands.
Also speaking, Comptroller Oluyomi Adebakin, the Deputy Commandant and Director of Studies of the college, urged the 50 students to sustain the professional conduct they portray at the college and be a good ambassador of the Service. “As you all move to your respective commands to continue to work for the Service, I implore you to transfer your knowledge to your subordinates,” she stated.
While narrating his ordeal at the college, one of the graduates, SC Ekene Ochi, revealed that the college’s robust courses have equipped him and his colleagues for unforseen contingencies in the service.
He praised Almighty God for the knowledge impacted in him, and also extended gratitude to the management team of NCS under the leadership of CGC Adewale Adeniyi; the Commander of the college, DCG Suleiman Bomai; Commandant of the college, ACG Kingsley Egwu; the Deputy Commandant of the college, Comptroller Oluyomi Adebakin, and all the Directing Staff of the college for impacting positively in the lives of the graduates.
Similarly, as part of its tradition to bid farewell to the students, the College earlier organised a regimental dinner night on Monday, 26 August 2024, to appreciate the graduating students for successfully completing their three months of training at the College.
