The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) has targeted end of Q3 2024 for the automation of truck traffic at Onne Port Complex.
Managing Director of the Authority, Dr. Dantsoho disclosed this while expressing readiness to implement the Electronic Call-Up System for the Onne Port Complex as approved by the Federal Executive Council.
He said In line with the directive of the Honourable Minister, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola, NPA is poised to provide necessary support to fast track the automation of truck traffic for Onne before the end of this quarter.
While addressing the Executive Team of Call-up Technology Services Limited and Forge Concepts Limited, Operators of the electronic solution, who were on a pre-implementation visit to NPA Headquarters, Dantsoho noted that the authority will ensure the Operators structure their information Technology Deployment in line with Port Community System(PCS).
His words, “we would ensure that the operators structure their Information Technology deployments in a manner that seamlessly plugs into the Port Community System (PCS) and the forthcoming National Single Window (NSW) whilst also emphasizing sustainable use of alternative sources of energy”
Recall that the new NPA’ s helmsman, Dr. Abubakar Dantsoho spearheaded innovative investor-friendly initiatives responsible for the consistent growth recorded at Onne Port Complex, when he was the Port Manager for Onne Port Complex between 2020 and 2021.
Onne Port Complex which houses the Federal Ocean Terminal (FOT), Federal Lighter Terminal (FLT) and the largest Oil & Gas logistics base in West and Central Africa, has since been recording unprecedented growth in vessel and cargo traffic.
