Move to curb smuggled vehicle on Nigerian Roads

Officers and Men of the Nigeria Customs Service(NCS) and the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) have jointly staged a 5km “Work-Life Balance” walk to strengthen inter- agency collaboration.

The exercise led by the Helmsmen of the two agencies -Comptroller General of Customs, CGC Adewale Adeniyi and Corps Marshall of FRSC, Shehu Muhammed took place on 17 August 2024 and was aimed at strengthening existing relationship between the two security agencies and to foster the spirit of friendship.

Speaking on the activity, CGC Adeniyi emphasized that the collaboration is targeted directly on curbing smuggling of vehicles on Nigerian roads.

He implored officers and men of the two agencies to embrace the spirit of brotherhood to achieve their mandates.

His words, “My Officers and I have really enjoyed this outing, I promised henceforth, we will be part of this exercise every month.

“I have always reiterated that there are many things we can do together. I implore us all to continue exploring ways to work together because we are stronger when we are united.

“Our organizations can synergise to avoid smuggled cars on our roads. This collaboration will ensure every vehicle registered in Nigeria pay the right duties”.

Corps Marshal Shehu Muhammad, in his remarks, expressed enthusiasm and positivity in staging social activities and exercises between sister agencies as this could be key to building a prosperous nation.

“I am optimistic that such outings will improve our health and well-being. We all know that good health is not just wealth but also freedom and the best blessing God gives mankind.

“Therefore, this exercise will continue monthly, and we will always be ready to converge here for this same event because we believe that healthy workforce is key to productivity,” he stated

He further expressed gratitude to CGC Adeniyi for attending the event in person.

To him, “I want to sincerely appreciate the Comptroller-General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, who is here with his full team. This demonstrates the strong partnership and brotherhood between the Nigeria Customs Service and the Federal Road Safety Corps.

“What the Comptroller-General of Customs and his team showcased this morning reflects the spirit of love and good synergy between us, as Customs are brothers to the FRSC, I am confident that this partnership will be fruitful and will continue,” he said.

Shortly after co-leading the 5km “Work-Life Balance” event with Corps Marshal Shehu Muhammad, which started at the FRSC Headquarters around 6 am, officers and men of the two agencies traversed Herbert Macaulay Way to the Wuse Market traffic light and returned to the FRSC Headquarters via Maputo Street.
