STRONG indication has emerged  that former President of Chattered Institute of Transport and Administration(CioTA), Princess (Mrs) Mulikat Fehintola Sanni, now officially heads the Shippers Association of Lagos State(SALS).

This is coming on the heels of the claims debunked by the immediate past president of the association, Mr Leonard Ogamba on his removal by members and executive of the association by passing vote of no confidence on him.

Mr Leo had said the process of his removal does not conform with the association’s constitution.

But the association debunked the allegations levied against SALS and BOT members in the media by the immediate past president of SALS, saying evangelist Leo Ogamba was impeached for not cooperating with the executives of the association to achieve their mandate.

“When we inaugurated the  executives two years ago in July, we thought we can work harmoniously and deliver progress and Prosperity to the Shippers through our association, but unfortunately we couldn’t work together with him. The issue transcend to having two bodies in the association – the executives and the president, we couldn’t work towards all agenda table down during swearing-in. It’s always one issue or the other and it’s very unfortunate that our tenure is ending this July. We just have to take the step of making amendment and that’s why we have new president. Under the former President, nothing was achieved. But we assure you that we will make strong impact with the new one before the tenure lapse.

“The Vice President, Princess Mulikat Fehintola has taken over as President of the Association and we are currently engaging the community, we intend to visit Customs, Police, just to create awareness on what we want to do,” they said.

However, the new President, Princess Fehintola see the development as a wake up call to work towards progress of the nation

She stressed that without Maritime, there is no ocean, adding “It’s high time the association move towards changing the system positively. We’ve been having so many bottlenecks especially with all the agencies who have been exploiting us from what we don’t really deserve and we pay through our nose despite knowing that businesses are not thriving as expected. We can’t be stagnant in a place where there’s no progress. Our mission is to drive the industry to it’s peak, that is why I’m there. And our vision is to train and create more employment especially in Seaports. We will take it to the next level,” she assured.
