.… Surpasses CBA Recommendation

The Management of Ports & Terminal Multi services Limited (PTML) TinCan Island Port, Apapa has paid the wages and benefits of all 84 aged disengaged Dockworkers, this include 10 of the deceased Dockworkers paid through their next of Kins.
In a statement signed by Comrade John Kennedy Ikemefuna, Head of Media, MWUN, the payment exercise was made under the supervision of Comrade Bello Abubakir (VPG) who represented the President -General of Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria (MWUN), Prince Adewale Adeyanju, Comrade Ibrahim Ohize, President, Dockworkers Branch of the MWUN and other officials of the Union.
Speaking on this development, Prince Adeyanju noted that PTML is applying the minimum salary standard – National Joint Industrial Council(NJIC), negotiated Collective Bargaining Agreement(CBA), to the fullest for the first time since inception of the terminal.
He said the management even surpassed what was recommended in the negotiated CBA for the payment of Dockworkers retirees in its Terminal.
While praising the management of PTML for taking such laudable bold step, he emphasized that the feat is worthy of emulation by other terminals who have not done theirs and advised them to follow suit.
The number one Maritime Labour leader, Dr. Adeyanju, praised the management of PTML for taking such laudable bold step by putting smiles on the faces of both the aged retirees and the family of the deceased who got the entitlements of their departed loved ones.
