The Senior Partner of Akabogu & Associates, Dr. Emeka Akabogu has described Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria(MWUN) a unique labour organization using it’s power to positively influence the Maritime industry.
This is coming on the heels of the pragmatic bold decision taking by the Union under President -General, Comrade (Prince) Dr. Adewale Adeyanju, towards repositioning the Union for a progressive advancement since he assumed office as the number one of MWUN.
According to a Statement by Comrade John Kennedy Ikemefuna, Head of Media for the Union, the seasoned Legal Luminary, who recently led a delegation of Barristers and Lawyers on a courtesy visit to the leadership of Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria (MWUN) at 119 Osho Drive, Olodi -Apapa, Lagos, buttressed his facts with the new face of the Dockworkers, which he said has taken positive dimensions as against the past when crisis was order of the day in every of their activities.
Dr. Akabogu explained that the Union has wholesomely transformed to a very reputable and cohesive Union, which has become the envy of every labour Union in the country, Africa and across the globe, stressing that most of these transformations happened under this present administration led by the workaholic President -General.
He further pour encomium on the PG for the relative peace being enjoyed today in the sector, which cannot be overemphasized.
Dr. Akabogu equally affirmed that the significance of the visit is to foster collaboration between the Union and Akabogu & Associates to having a more harmonious operational environment between employers and employees and to achieving more fruitful engagement with governments, stakeholders and practitioners of the Maritime Sector as it affects the Union and all Stakeholders in general.
In response Dr. Adeyanju who appreciated the delegation’s visit, commended Dr Akabogu for his excellent involvements in most of the issues arising in the sector, his intelligent engagement in various fora and his brilliance interface with governments in labour matters, particularly in the Maritime Industry, where he has carved a niche for himself.
The indefatigable President -General of MWUN promised that the Union will integrate and synergize with Akabogu & Associates to profer solutions and render necessary assistance towards some of the teething challenges confronting the Union as it were, and hopes that this new found relationship between the Union and Dr. Akabogu will yield needed succour to the Union in all ramifications.
