… Wonder the agony of a mother that loss two sons in two weeks
ZAINAB JUNAID
Yes, the Nigeria Customs Service has vowed justice for Fallen Hero, Auwal Haruna, condemned the brutal attack that occurred at Gamji Makaho checkpoint in the Dankama area of Katsina State on Wednesday April 17, 2024 and the Service has reiterated it’s commitment to strengthen collaborative efforts against smuggling, what about the agony of the mother, who has become heartbroken and inconsolable for what she was made to pass through in two weeks?
All her hopes of seeing her two sons alive becoming what they aspired vanished in two weeks.
The unsung hero and his brother, were neither rich nor famous but tried so much to contribute their quota to the development of the Country in their best way.
They were flames that once illuminated the days of their mother and raised her hopes but this was put out by mother nature in a single puff.
Wondered her current mental status with the situation life threw at her?
The National Public Relations Officer of the Service, CSC Abdullahi Maiwada had two weeks ago hinted on Customs/Media platform that she collapsed on hearing the news of Haruna’s demise, a second loss in two weeks.
He said “Haruna hailed from Katsina, he is the eldest in their family and according to his family they lost his brother two weeks before Haruna’s demise…”
Honestly, no parent should ever have to experience the pain of losing a child but who are we in the face of mother nature? How will such parent not have Bipolar Disorder?
My heart aches for that mother who had to go through the pain of losing a child in the course of discharging his duty and saving his nation and I hope she found strength in love and support surrounding her.
The Comptroller General of Customs (CGC), Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, in a statement signed by Abdullahi Maiwada, extended heartfelt condolences to the family and colleagues of CA II Auwal Haruna and emphasised that the Service, in close collaboration with other security agencies, is tirelessly working to apprehend the perpetrators of this reprehensible act and ensure they face the full consequences of the law.
He asserted that “Violence against officers is utterly unacceptable, and we will pursue every avenue to bring those responsible to justice. The safety of our personnel and the security of our borders remain paramount. We are committed to working with traditional rulers, government bodies, and sister agencies to combat this heinous crime against our personnel.”
“In view of this, the Service reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to combating smuggling and other cross-border crime. We will not falter in our mission to uphold the law and protect the interests of the Nigerian people.
“Intelligence available to us indicates that certain unpatriotic community members are harbouring suspected accomplices involved in this heinous crime. We implore these individuals to embrace patriotism by aligning with the law and refraining from condoning illegality. It is in the best interest of our communities and nation to collaborate with law enforcement agencies to root out criminal elements and ensure justice prevails.
“The NCS urges the public to join hands in the fight against these brazen criminals. We implore the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities of these daredevil smugglers to the nearest customs formation. Together, we can create a safer environment for our officers and a more secure nation for all,” he said.
Hunn! May the Soul of the departed ones rest in PEACE.
