If the power to redeploy Area Controllers or whom to take over leadership of a Command, Unit is vested in the hands of Stakeholders, Officers Cum Agents, active Stakeholders, Community leaders within the vicinity of Ogun 1 Area Command of Nigeria Customs Service, would have retained Comptroller Ahmadu Bello Shuaibu, outgone Area Controller. They would not have let him go.
If given the opportunity to put into voting whether or not he should be redeployed outside the Zone, I’m sure the Ballot Box would be full of votes in favor of the crowd present at the Command today to bid him farewell, in order to retain him.
The crowd, which included active Stakeholders, Agents, Customs Men and Officers of the Command, traditional Rulers, Community Leaders, Representative of Benin Republic Customs Administration, Customs Media, expressed their feelings to him in the time he has spent with them at the Command and also congratulated him for his promotion.
Even though he took over from Comptroller Bamidele Makinde mid September 2023-a short period of seven months, the atmosphere and mood observed at the event reflected a fact that Comptroller Shuaibu is a true leader whose wisdom have been a true source of inspiration to many, not only in Ogun 1 but also in Ogun 11 where he earlier served.
This is not just about the revenue generated within the short period nor the anti smuggling activities that the Command carried out under his leadership, but his ability to sustain and strengthen synergy with relevant Stakeholders which hitherto has helped facilitate trade.
Comptroller Shuaibu as described by those present at the ceremony has the capability to distinguish himself very wisely in the crowd with his diligence humour drive at any given post. He was extolled for his hard works, achievements, dedication and ability to maintain open door policy not just to the agents and neighbouring communities but the media as well.
