A significant milestone was achieved at the just concluded Inter-Agency Border Security Forum spearheaded by Customs Area Controller, Nigeria Customs Service, Ogun 1 Command, Comptroller Ahmadu Bello Shuaibu.
The meeting which was presided over by the Area Controller on Wednesday March 27, 2024, at the Command’s headquarters, Idiroko, Ogun State was convened to resolve issues hindering existing cooperation and peace enjoyed by the security agencies of both countries.
In a communique made available by the Command Public Relations Officer, CSC HB Oloyede, “The Inter-Agency Border Security Forum led by Comptroller AB Shuaibu, Customs Area Controller, Ogun 1 Command had its security agencies counterparts from Republic of Benin, the Idiroko community chiefs and the youths in attendance. The meeting also involved the Secretary General of Inter-Border Security Forum, Dr Bonny A Botoku, who mediates between the 2 countries.
“The meeting was convened to address issues that were albatross to the cooperation and peace enjoyed by the security agencies of both countries.”
After several deliberations, discussions and submission, the forum prohibited Idiroko youths against jungle justice and enjoined them to always report any suspected civil case to the Nigerian Police, Idiroko Divisional Office or any other security agency at the border.
