The Chairman, Nigeria Customs Service Board, Wale Edun has approved the suspension of 25% penalty previously imposed in addition to import duties on Improperly Imported Vehicles.

This is coming two and half weeks after The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), under the directives of the Chairman who also triple as Honourable Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, initiated a 90-day window for the regularisation of import duties on specific categories of vehicle.

In a statement signed by the National Public Relations Officer, Abdullahi Maiwada, on Friday, for the Comptroller General of Customs, the suspension is to ease economic hardship and encourage full compliance by Stakeholders, importers, agents and vehicle owners to import duties.

Maiwada said Stakeholders, including vehicle owners, importers, and agents, are thus encouraged to use the opportunity to regularise import duty payments within the designated 90-day timeframe.
