…Generates N90.4Bn Revenue, Seizes items worth N47.2Bn in 2023, targets N144Bn for 2024
Just as Murtala Muhammed Airport Command(MMAC) of the Nigeria Customs Service held its maiden award/gala party on Wednesday, January 25, 2024 to relieve the stress of the Command’s statutory mandate -revenue generation, the Area Controller of the Command, Comptroller MS Yusuf disclosed that One Hundred and forty four Billion Naira(N144Bn) has been allocated to the Command by the NCS management as 2024 revenue target.
Having successfully realized the sum of Ninety Billion, four hundred and twenty six million, one hundred and eighty five thousand, and four hundred and forty seven naira only(N90,426,285,447.01) revenue in 2023, which shows a progressive difference of twenty billion, six hundred and fifty seven million, six hundred and seventy five thousand, eight hundred and forty nine naira, twenty two kobo only(N20,657,675,849.22), that is 29.61% increase from that collected in 2022-sixty nine billion, seven hundred and sixty eight million, five hundred and nine thousand, five hundred and ninety seven naira seventy nine kobo(69,768,509,597.79), Comptroller Yusuf believed continuous synergy with stakeholders in the present year 2024, will make the set target N144Bn achievable.
During his opening remarks, the Area Controller stressed that the new target is a call of the Service to the nation adding the Command will continue to maintain it’s open door policy to resolve issues of common interest with concerned stakeholders.
He further appreciated all relevant agencies and stakeholders that made penultimate year an achievable one for the Command and also extended gratitude to the Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi MFR and his management team for giving the Command the opportunity to perform in it’s own capacity.
The gala/award event which was officially hosted by the former Customs Public Relations Officer, TinCan Island Port, Uche Ejesieme, was enveloped with well wishers, prominent Officers and Men of the Command, Commissioner of Police, International Airport, other relevant agencies and stakeholders, who graced the event and also relax their nerves with the live music and lights that brought balancing and coordination to all guests present.
Lots of colourful presentation of awards also took place at the ceremony for the contribution of Officers and Men to the success recorded so far at the Command and among the awardees are the Command’s Image maker-SC Victor Ogagbor, who is believed to understand the rudiment of Public Relations; DM Daniel, Comptroller Haruna, JN Nwakwo, Eneje, JO Taoreed among others also received recognition award at the event.
